How this one runs

The six-stage method, ui/ux & product design edition

  1. 01Open

    2–3 days

The brief: what's shipping, what engineering capacity exists, what's already built.

A kick-off conversation or written brief, and a written scope you sign off before anything else starts.

  2. 02Audit

    3–5 days

The current product or spec: where handoff is losing time today, what states are missing.

A short audit document specific to your service, used to brief stage 03.

  3. 03Direction

    1 week

One interaction direction and one visual direction, approved together, before high-fidelity work starts.

One direction presented and signed off in writing.

  4. 04Draft

    2–3 weeks

A full working pass across every screen and every state — not polished statics with the edge cases missing.

You review real, near-final work, not a concept sketch.

  5. 05Balance

    1–2 weeks

Your revision rounds, checked against a build-readiness review with your own engineers.

Your feedback, applied and checked, for the number of rounds your package includes.

  6. 06Close

    3–4 days

The handoff file, specs, source files, IP transfer — a developer can ship from it unassisted.

Everything lands in your inbox, in formats you can use without us, the day your final invoice clears.

Who this is for — and who it isn't

Fit for, and not for

Fit for

  • Product teams or technical founders with engineering capacity who keep losing time to incomplete handoff
  • Needing every edge case — empty, error, loading, disabled — specified before a sprint starts, not invented mid-build

Not for

  • Needing the code built, not just the design (see Website Design & Build)
  • Needing brand-level work first — logo, colour, type — before product screens make sense (see Brand Identity Design)
  • Needing a marketing site rather than a product interface (see Website Design & Build)
FAQ

Questions about ui/ux & product design

01 What counts as "every state" — what’s actually specified?

Default, empty, error, loading and disabled, for every component in the kit from Growth up (Essential specifies the three most common: default, error, empty). Each is a real, designed screen state, not a note in a comment.

02 Will my developers be able to build directly from the handoff file?

That’s the deliverable’s own test — specs, redlines, and exportable assets, structured so a developer can ship from it without a follow-up call to clarify what a state should look like.

03 How many screens is "up to 16," and what happens if I need more?

16 distinct screens/states in Growth. Beyond that, additional screens are quoted before they’re added — never silently absorbed into a longer timeline.

04 What if my product changes mid-project?

Material scope changes are quoted and agreed before they’re built; small adjustments are covered inside your revision rounds. Nothing changes without you seeing the number first.

05 Do you build the front-end code, or only design it?

Only design — Website Design & Build is the service that builds and ships code. Buy both if you want the full pipeline from us.

06 What if I need to cancel after Draft?

Full refund minus payment fees before Open begins; the 30% deposit is non-refundable once Open starts; work already at Draft or Balance is invoiced against what’s delivered. Full terms: Refund & Cancellation Policy.

07 Who owns the Figma file and components?

You do, from the day your final invoice clears — stage 06, Close.
