Brand Strategy & Positioning
Decide what you are before you decide what you look like — a positioning engagement measured in weeks, not a consultancy measured in months.
Deliverables, with realistic estimates
- Positioning statement — tested against 3 real scenarios 1 week
- Messaging pillars, with proof points 1 week
- Competitive map — where you sit, not just who else exists 3–4 days
- A working document your team actually uses in meetings ongoing

The six-stage method, brand strategy & positioning edition
- 01Open
1–2 days
The brief: what's the trigger, what's already been tried, who needs to agree on the answer.
A kick-off conversation or written brief, and a written scope you sign off before anything else starts.
- 02Audit
3–5 days
Competitors, and the sentences your team currently uses that don't hold up under a direct question.
A short audit document specific to your service, used to brief stage 03.
- 03Direction
3–4 days
One positioning direction committed and stress-tested against three real scenarios — a sales call, a hire, a pitch deck — before it’s finished.
One direction presented and signed off in writing.
- 04Draft
1 week
The full working document: positioning statement, pillars, and (where scoped) naming direction.
You review real, near-final work, not a concept sketch.
- 05Balance
4–5 days
Your package's revision rounds, checked against the brief and against how the document is actually used in a meeting.
Your feedback, applied and checked, for the number of rounds your package includes.
- 06Close
2–3 days
The final document, source files, IP transfer.
Everything lands in your inbox, in formats you can use without us, the day your final invoice clears.

Fit for, and not for
Fit for
- Leadership teams who can't yet say what makes them different in one sentence
- Needing internal alignment before any design work is commissioned
- Wanting a document the team actually uses — not a workshop series that gets filed
Not for
- Already having a positioning statement everyone agrees on and just needing it designed (see Brand Identity Design)
- Needing visual identity work rather than the strategy behind it (see Brand Identity Design)
- Rolling messaging out across a live website (see Website Design & Build)
Questions about brand strategy & positioning
01 What does "positioning statement" mean in practice — is it a tagline?
No. It’s one internal sentence your team uses to make decisions — what you do, for whom, and why that’s different — not a piece of ad copy. A tagline can come out of it later, but the statement itself is a working tool, not a public line.
02 How is this different from a branding workshop that takes months?
Fixed timeline, one deliverable format. No open-ended workshop series — the whole engagement runs Open through Close in 2–4 weeks depending on tier.
03 What if my team disagrees on the direction mid-project?
That disagreement is exactly what stage 03 (Direction) exists to surface and resolve — before Draft starts, not after. One direction is approved in writing before we build anything on top of it.
04 Does this include naming?
Only at Premium, where naming direction is a named line item. Essential and Growth cover positioning and messaging, not naming.
05 Can I buy Brand Strategy and Brand Identity together?
Yes — add both to your cart. Many clients run Strategy first so the identity work has a positioning statement to design against.
06 What if I need to cancel after kickoff?
Full refund minus payment fees before Open begins; the 30% deposit is non-refundable once Open starts. Full terms: Refund & Cancellation Policy.
07 Who owns the final document?
You do, from the day your final invoice clears — stage 06, Close.
